SUMMARY : Mathias Palouzi, a cop in charge of the territorial brigades, has set his sights on arresting the king of the Belleville underworld: Roger Massina. To achieve his goal, he needs an informant. When the man who informed him is found murdered, Palouzi has no choice but to find another "snitch." Dédé Laffont, a small-time pimp, appears to be the ideal replacement: he has a beef with Massina and wants revenge.
ABOUT THE FILM : Winner of the César Award for Best Film in 1983, La Balance was a huge commercial success upon its release, benefiting from a particularly strong cast: Nathalie Baye (The Return of Martin Guerre), Philippe Léotard (The Beasts), Richard Berry (A Passing Assassin), Christophe Malavoy (Peril in the House) and Maurice Ronet (Plein Soleil). La Balance remains to this day one of the major French crime novels of the 1980s.
