SUMMARY : Boston, 1985 - Having fallen down a flight of stairs as a child twenty-five years ago to escape an attack by a man disguised as a priest, a trauma she has erased from her memory, Joanna finds herself confined to a wheelchair. Having inherited her parents' fortune, her days are divided between her villa and the sports center for the disabled that she helped to set up. Her friend Ruth manages her daily life, while Craig trains her as an accomplished disabled athlete. As the date approaches to sign a large endowment for her parish, the priests charged with this task disappear. Craig, Joanna's trainer, pushes her to marry him. She ends up giving in to him, for better or for worse...
