ABOUT THE FILM :
Poland, 1951: Antonina is a frivolous and apolitical cabaret singer. One evening of a party, a bit too drunk, she finds herself behind prison bars without knowing what she is accused of. A brutal, long, and unfair interrogation will push her to her limits as a woman and a citizen fighting against a totalitarian, oppressive, and arbitrary system.
Produced and directed under the aegis of Andrzej Wajda's Production Group X during the opening period of Solidarity, but completed in 1982 under martial law, THE INTERROGATION is an intense and shocking film, which was censored by the powers that be and forced its director into exile until the breakup of the Soviet bloc. Shown clandestinely for years thanks to a smuggled VHS, the film finally achieved enormous success upon its belated release in 1989, crowned the following year at Cannes with the Best Actress Award for Krystyna Janda, in the role of a lifetime.
Unseen in France for over 30 years, the film is presented on Blu-Ray in its latest 2K restoration.
