Like the Rashōmon effect invented by Akira Kurosawa in his 1950 film, An Oral History of Andrzej Żuławski recounts the films, projects, and also the life and personality of this unique Polish filmmaker from multiple perspectives. From his beginnings as an assistant to Andrzej Wajda to The Talking Birds directed by his son Xawery, via Possession, The Important Thing is to Love, and On the Silver Globe, discover the behind-the-scenes of a filmography that has celebrated actresses like Romy Schneider and Isabelle Adjani and shattered all cinematic conventions. Around fifty close friends and collaborators contributed to the creation of this work, including his brother Mathieu Żuławski, his long-time director of photography and cameraman Andrzej J. Jaroszewicz , producer Paulo Branco , director Nicolas Boukhrief , and actors Aurélien Recoing , Pascal Greggory , Valérie Kaprisky , Tchéky Karyo and Sophie Marceau .
